Airlines Cutting Capacity and Raising Fares
As summer travel wanes, industry analysts are projecting that air travel costs will increase as flight capacity is cut. The Air Transport Association (ATA) notes that in the first half of 2008, ticket prices rose seven percent. It’s been predicted that fares could increase as much as 9.5 percent in the coming weeks. It seems to me that the airlines would fill their planes with lower fares. Instead they seem to be intent on driving the common traveler away by continually gouging them with increases fares and baggage charges. It will once again be only the rich that can travel.

So they are raising the fare and charging me for luggage, snacks and soda? How so very unfair, there must be someone we can complain to! It's sicking! Highway robbery!

You would think it is cheaper to fill up the plane than to run it empty, that is why the fares are so high.
